Services Offered

Black Dog Equine offers two main areas of service: Body Work and Laser Therapy. We work with each client to determine a regime tailored to each individual horse. Most frequently we see horses twice monthly for laser therapy, and once monthly for bodywork. We happily collaborate with other practitioners and veterinarians to determine the best program for your horses!

Our body work practice is focused on improving range of motion, muscular release, and improving the horse’s own body awareness. We have found improvement in these three areas results in a horse who is more relaxed and able to do the work asked of them. All body work sessions include written updates to help track changes in the horse’s range of motion, and condition.

Laser therapy has shown great results as a stand alone therapy, and complement to other modalities. Both acute injuries and chronic conditions can benefit from the anti-inflammatory effects of laser therapy. Black Dog Equine uses a Pegasus Laser (Class IV, Cold Laser), the same laser utilized by veterinarians and doctors worldwide.

Body Work Session

Approximately 60-90 Minutes

$200

Horse will have an evaluation, followed by a full body session. The work is always customized based on the evaluation, history, anything noted by the trainer/rider, and/or veterinarian to make each session as impactful as possible.

Along with other techniques, most sessions include:

  • Poll relaxation and release

  • Stabilized range of motion exercises

  • Release point, acupressure.

Evaluation Body Work Session

Approximately 90-120 Minutes

$250

For horses being seen for the first time. In addition to a full body work session, our evaluation sessions include more time to establish an understanding of the horses condition, modalities to try first, and areas of the body to note. This session also provides a baseline for future work.

Laser Therapy

Time varies based on dosage and area.

$4/minute

Treatment with Pegasus laser. Laser can be used as a standalone treatment for acute injury, as part of a regular management program, or as a follow up to veterinary treatments or chiropractic work.

Treatment times vary, but average between 8-12 minutes per treatment area. Laser therapy can be preformed with or without a veterinary referral.

Packages and Programs

Package pricing:

10 Body Work Sessions: $1900

250 minutes of laser therapy: $950

Professional Programs:

We value working with professional training programs. For every 20 hours of therapy scheduled for your barn, your program will receive credit for 1 hour of the therapy of your choice.

Travel and Call Fees:

  1. We try to be as flexible as possible to best support your horses. However, we do try to stick to some minimums to avoid charging travel or call fees. Generally we will need three hours of scheduled services per location in order to come out to locations in the Bay Area.

  2. Customers on a regular schedule will never be charged travel or call fees when the horse is at its home barn, or at the Woodside Horse Park.

  3. We travel to horse shows as needed. Costs will be spilt based on the percentage of treatment time each horse received. We will do our best to ensure we treat a large number of horses to mitigate this additional cost.

  4. No travel or call fee will be charged at shows we are attending as competitors.
